Well then you must be a basher... How long did it last? As all things will break eventually. I am just sure i could get a set up like that to last plenty long enough to do the job for me and to get my moneys worth out of it.
I was in 4wd litterally less than 18 seconds. I bogged the back end down by holding the brake trying to make a mud hole for some toyotas on 31s to play in and when I put it in 4lo both front axle shafts broke at the ears, stripped the hubs and puts one of the stub shafts through the face of the hub. I assure you a $10,000 D44 wont hold up to 500hp and 600ftlbs with 38" tires and a detroit. This thing broke waaaaaaaay too easy. Ive broke stock shafts where the ujoints were bad...no big deal. All this stuff was new and in great shape. I cant remember but I think this was the first time playing in the mud with the new shafts.
actually its the responsability of a parent to keep an eye on his kid but its the responsability of the driver to have control of they're vehicle at all times, wether its a stop light, a car pulling out or a kid running in front of you, its the drivers fault. complete control at all times.if his kid ran in front of me it would be my fault. thats the way i works, i'm not riding him or insulting him its areal concern, it sounds as if he wants big tire period, so its cool, never did he mention upgrading brakes, if he had i wouldn't have brought it up, i know alot of meatheads that have to have the big cool tires, and never upgade anyhing, they're running 20 yr old ball joints, old ujoints, wheel bearings and brakes, so don't take my words as insults or teasing or being mean. it all depends on how old he is and how responsable he is, as far as we know he's 18 yrs old in hs, think about how responsable you were at 18, if you had a choice between shiny new wheels and tires or brakes which one would you have picked? what state in corvette from? is it even legal in his state to run that kind of lift and tire? just things to think about

Ok look.... Im 20 years old and in college and I know what you probably just thought..."well that explains everything" but i hate it when people think that younger people are irresponsible or things like that. I wasnt brought up that way and dont plan on becomming that way. the only reason I posted this thread is because i wanted to know what i was getting myself into. and yes i have thought about the brakes and was getting around to asking that question. If you could see some of the work that I do, you would see that I take alot of pride in what i build because i dont just throw things together and weld something up and "make it work". I try to set myself apart from the standard cliche of the teenager mindset. I want professionals to look at what i have done and say that it looks good and I did a good job. not "hay that looks like it was put together in about 10 mins" or something like that. im from arkansas and have look and there are no lift laws... only light laws that state that the lights on a vehicle cant be above like 54" or something like that.... Thats all i have to say...
ok i lied im gonna say one more things because you brought it up and i was hopein no one did. ummm if im not mistaken me, chrono, and quad are maybe at the max 10 years older then you. myself only 25. the point is its not the age its the mindset most people have these days. we would say the same things if you were 50 but then we would just say its cuz your old and stubborn not young and dumb...lol
Yeah, most of us are under or around 20. I'm 19, I think quad just turned 21? chrono is younger than all of us i think. Point is, do it once, do it right. Its that simple. (stg is an old man though! )
I agree with that. I have more than one set of tires. 36" is okay on the road but 32" is more stable and better cost/mile and a much quieter ride.
True but my crewcab will be drivin at most once a weekend for a trip no more than 50 mi. So if the tires want to sing well then let them. A set of Boggers will last me a long time. Beside ima have the biggest SOB on the block. Hell maybe even in the state.

its weird how they break like that.....ive beat the **** out of my bronco and theyve held up alright.....but the one time i bury it in 2, put it in 4 barely start to spin them slowly and kaboom.....lame!

Then come see how we wheel, we will see if or rigs hold up or yours... Its not pathetic, its
I'm not going see anything I don't already know. TTB on 39.5s will break!
How hard is that to understand???
A D44 w/ chromo shafts will not stand up to 44" tires.
quad has 39.5s on a solid axle D44 with chromos and he broke a shaft taking it easy.
I haven't broke any axle shafts on my 79, but I'm waiting for it(I take it easy, but it happens).
