What does unplugging the waste gate do?

I have mine unplugged and really have not see anything different. I plugged it back in and it seamed to give me better MPG. But that may have been in my head.

What does it do, the good and the bad?

you should be able to build a little more boost and spool up will be a little faster..did you plug the red line on a boot clamp when you pulled it off the tubo ???
