What engine would this have?

My buddy has a 60s F600 dump truck. It has a gas v8 and what looks to be a 1bbl carb. What engine could this be? How many hp does it have? Thanks.

Can you give a more detail description. After all that was 48 years ago, no telling what's in it now.

A Vin will tell what engine came in the truck when new, To Quote Robert, No telling whats in it now! I think some of the bigger trucks came with 330 V8, not 100% sure tho. Post the Vin if you can.

Actually according to my books they would more than likely be either a 302 or 332 Y-Blocks, if it's still the original engine.

Can you find out what year 60s truck? Is it a I6 or V8? Those answers can help us a lot.

don't remember a 302 back then in trucks, the 292 was most populsr, the 330 was the truck design of the automotive 332 a very few f-600s had the 317

This is Right out of my OWNER'S MANUAL as to What engines were available for Trucks, as they are ALL Y-Block engines I believe I'm correct in my statement.

I find it hard to believe in a ford owners manual in those years you don't have a 292 listed as it was the most popular engine from '57 to '64

I didn't state that 292 wasn't listed, I stated that for the F-600 that the 302 & 332 were more than likely the Y-blocks that it would be the most probable to have as they were the most popular for the Big Job trucks.
It would help to take a statement @ face value & not to interprit what someone writes here, as in, give someone the Benifit of Doubt, nor attempt to put words & thoughts into others mouths & minds that they did not originally have.

if you do your homework you'll find the HD302 and HD332 were found in F-700 and F800 while the 292and 317 were in F600s until '64 when the MD 330 was introduced

Excuse me, but the Owners Manuals are chock full of Only basic Intel & don't go into anything in Great Depth, they just give a list of what was available in engines & could S.O. for your truck.
Plus, @ least out here in Los Angeles, it's what I've run into the most of, but that could also be that the P.O.'s had those particular engines transplanted in later on, go figure.
