what do you do with a rotten kid

my kid was on the meds and it didnt do any good he still wouldnt shut up and listen so we took him off them and atleast now he's not a zombie with his head floating in the clouds. i do know his mom used to slap him upside the head offten this is why he wanted to come live here with me and my new wife. he's been talking with the paster at school that has been helping a lil but we just cant figure out what may be bugging him. at the start of the school year(5th grade) he was geting c's and b's in classes even a b- in 6th grade math now he got an f in 5th grade math. i know he's scared to death of goin back to his moms and she told him if he fails school he'll have to go back. this isnt a thing i would lett her do easy. hmmm mabe thats it if he's so scared of that mabe its messin with his head enuff its taking his mind off school work

aztrainer, thank you for agreeing with me. i really did not think things had changed that much in the past 35 years since i went through this, and the 10 since the kids did.

Wizzard just one more question after going through this an rereading it, do you know if he has any new stresses at school? Could be being bullied in classes? I am asking this, because it seems that he has really changed from 5th to 6th grade. Also, how does he like the teacher? Do you communicate with the teacher? There are some kids that simply do not progress in some teachers classrooms and flourish in others
TJC - They have not changed too much, but I have only been teaching for 10 years. I can see the bane of education being text messaging as some students cannot live without the constant stimuli.

ya we talk with the teach and he says and so does the kid that theres no one pushin him around, the rest of the kids got sick of his atitude and dont wana be around him. the teach bumped him up to 6th grade math and after he was there a while they pulled him back to 5th grade math. im going to go to school and sit IN class the whole day some time this week

Wow, that stinks. Sorry for that.
I'm going through a tough time with my son. He doesn't seem to learn from spankings and will be 10. He's got some deep evil in him.
I hope you can sort it out, if I find anything that helps I'll pass it on. I'm trying different books now.
