Just Wondering

Has anyone gotten their X's front end aligned with different specs than stock to try and help with the on highway wandering? I know there was a thread a while ago, discussing that Ford probably made the steering on the X easy for the soccer moms in parking lots... that would be the castor, wouldn't it?

I got my front end aligned after i put my lift kit on and it didnt help at all with my steering. BTW if ur worried about the wandering about the steering, then tighten ur steering box. This mod will eliminate ur loose steering. BTW, do u have a rear sway bar?

Ken,

I have had mine adjusted but only to the high end of the spec range...but I had my front end shop order a set of adjustable shims for the camber/caster $60 if I remember right...

It came factory set to the LOW side of the spec and I wanted HIGH side...the shop ended up moving it ~1° overall but ended up on the high side where I wanted. I remember a member saying they had dialed in like +5° or something like that...I'd think that could result in some pretty weird tire wear...

Having a slight positive camber has helped keep the vehicle for me much more stable...a big difference?...don't know...I made a bunch of little adjustments last year and have a VERY STABLE tow rig...

Here's a thread I put together after I had mine adjusted.
