More handles?

Hey all, so my girlfriend drives the Ex more than anyone. Well she is 5'3 and uses the steering wheel to help get in the truck. Has anyone added another grab handle on the drivers side? The passenger side has a handle on the A pillar but not the drivers. Can it be done? Just a thought.
Cheers,
Shawn

Every Excursion 2003 and later have a driver side grab handle, so you can do it by buying the a-pillar trim and the grab handle for the passenger and driver side from the newer Excursions. There was actually a guy somewhere here on the forum that did it, but I don't remember who, let me see if I can find the post.

If she's 5'3 more than likely she won't be able to pull the steering wheel off. The 99 F250 doesn't have a driver side grab bar and the wheel has been pulled on a lot in the past 253K miles and still seems as tight as the day it was made. What does feel loose though is the shifter lever. With the tree gauges on the driver side a pillar it leaves no room for the grab handle.

With no nerf bars or grab bar on the F350 with big tires I grab the steering wheel getting in every time. One of these days plan to install the triple pillar gauges I bought over 2 years ago.

You gotta remember these are built Ford tough and the Excursion is really a F250/F350!

What is weak about the steering wheel is the factory leather wrapping. Both the X and DRW have holes in the leather. Rather than buying a new wheel put matching covers on them.

Yeah the steering wheel sucks. Got to get a new one of those. I know she really can't pull it off, but I know she would like to have something a little more substantial to hold on too when getting in. I appreciate all the help, got a new handle ordered already!
Cheers

The handles from the newer model year Excursions are different from the older ones, so your going to have two different style handles (the passenger side handle is going to be different from the new handle) in the front unless you also ordered one for the passenger side.

I just got another passenger side handle. Lucky for me I have a real good relationship with the parts guy at my local dealer. He told me the same thing.
Thanks for looking out though!
Cheers
