The tilt cover is no good when I haul boxes, barrels, lumber. need the bed to be open.Don't want a cap. I would have bought a van before putting on the cap.
Well, yea, that's what I meant. The hard cover requires thinking ahead before each trip and deciding if you need to remove it. The roll cover will just roll back when needed. We plan to have a 5th wheel some day, and the roll covers are great for that. Roll it back while hitched, roll it closed once you've set up camp.
Soft covers do all that too, and are cheaper, but offer no security at all, and I don't care for the look.
I have had a Pace Edwards hard rollup cover for about 6 months now.
It's powder coated aluminum.Looks great.Strong.Not totally waterproof,but
pretty good.I wanted security mostly.
3. It has now entered the end of its life. It has developed a crack between the roll up box and the front edge near the window that I may try to caulk or take the cover to the scrap yard.
Just received my Retrax today via UPS directly from the factory. The plastic housing that the cover "retrax" into has a huge crack in it from shipping. The box it came in is very large and weights 70lbs. No wonder it cracked. IMO, Unless this thing is dropped (like UPS apparently did with mine) sitting in the bed of the truck shouldn't break it. Make sure you inspect throughly before you install. Randy at Retrax says it happens all the time via UPS or FedEx.
Retrax did step up to the plate and is having a new one shipped overnight VIA UPS for Saturday delivery.
I should have bought it from my local Line-X dealer. He said he would have sold to me for $100 less. Check that source before you call Retrax directly. Randy did throw in free shipping when I mentioned FTE.
The new plastic housing arrived on Saturday as promised. (thanks Randy). This is a well designed cover. Other than the shipping issues, the install was very easy.

I spoke to Randy @ Retrax. The newer boxes have been redesigned and are much stronger. He will sell one to you for $80.
Thanks, I may look into it. I need to decide if I need the space when I haul my ATV or not. I carry alot of crap to hunt camp and have to make sure it will all fit or if I need that extra space. It would definitly be worth the 80 dollars to repair it.
