im convinced its because of the early 99 turbo, i see 26 at most also, unless i unplug the red wastegate line then i can see 29-30
I just read somewhere that the WW thats in every early 99 turbo, eliminates surge but also reduces max boost. That would explain why a later model truck would see the 30#'s while I only see 26.
As for unplugging the wastegate line and plugging it.... I have a Big head, maybe I just need to make a small adjustment!?!
I thought the same thing to when I first installed my boost gauge last weekend. I sat there in the garage revving it and only got 5 Psi. They we got on the free way and floored it and saw 20 psi.

Nick, lol I did the same thing when I installed my boost gauge. I tried everything to get it to work. I finally gave up and went for a drive to watch the pyro and trans temp. Low and behold the boost gauge worked. I kind of felt stupid because my brother was helping me and he drives a dodge.

With my red line plugged ,running a WW in a late 99 turbo I pulled 33 lbs yesterday on a quick 65 to 100 + run .
None thats why I put WW in .I used to get terrible surge running with no load at 55-60 MPH I don't always run the boost up that high just once in awhile.

The reason I asked that question is because your boost is the highest I have heard of. Most I see on here is around 25#. I do get surge when I hit the upper boost range, but not while I drive normal. I will read more about this, WW or new housing.
I tossed the WW or new housing around for awhile and I knew that eventually I'm going to replace the turbo for something better so I figured why spend the money for the housing. I have been happy with it , lost a little on the bottom end ( don't smoke the tires so easy anymore ) but that's alright.

I will one more time. Dave, were you in that bad weather the other night?
I just started the install with mine and boost is the first one up and running , i have the same numbers too . next will be trans then pyro what number will i see when there wired up?? i,m all stock but the filter......... for now!!
That depends on what you are doing. You won't see the gauge move on the tranny with no load in cold weather. In hot weather mine runs about 120* or so no load. Try pulling 8 ton up an 8 % grade and you'll be backing off at 210*. Pyro will usually run 600 to 900 depending on ambient and driving conditions when unloaded. Keep it under 1200 when loaded heavy.
Thank you for asking no we just got rain most of that hit north of us.
Glad to hear you were not in all that bad stuff. I sure hope all the people that were involved gets the help they need. Maybe they can take a billion or two from (you know where) to help the people here.
