Hello guys
my 03 6.0 has an issue with the boost (mapp) sensor
I have a bully dog outlook monitor on it for gauges and when it is cold the boost is all over the place, from 2-35 psi jumping around steady, when it warms up it drops to zero and stays their.
I know this is a wiring issue and i am just looking for some info on where to start looking.
Can anyone tell me what the values should be on the wiring to the map sensor?
it is a three wire pressure sender, so it should be
1, V+ (not sure if it is 5v,8v or 12v?)
2, V+ voltage output which would vary with boost pressure
3, v- ground
KOER and KOEO
I am sure this is a wiring issue. it will be rubbed though or broken somewhere but i need to know which one to look for.
I tested the wiring to the map and it was good, exactly as the wiring diagram showed.
here is my testing this morning
First pic is 2500rpm no load
second pic is idle
third id dtc
The problem is low power, get some black smoke when accelerating from a stop.
seems to get worse as it warms up.
for some reason my AE does not have exhaust back pressure? weird but i have looked forever trying to find that setting
Well My truck went from a low power condition to a hot no start condition!
On my way home last night I was accelerating up a overpass and all of a sudden it had NO power at all. when i got home i shut it off and tried to restart, no luck
two hours later i when out and it would start, guess i am doing some HPOP work!

03 engines use an inferred EBP reading. The sensor is there but it's been taken out of the strategy on those engines so the PCM doesn't see it.
