My brakes seem to really be grabbing/locking up if it is wet outside or even snowing or icy. Not sure what would cause this. Also, the ABS light comes on at startup for just a few seconds. Is this normal? I can't remember if it has always done this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ABS light is normal. Grabbing when humid is also normal. Does it usually just go it the first stop of the day or drive cylce then seem to be fine the rest of the time? also just double check the brake fluid level and check the rear brakes for signs of leakage on the backing plates.
mine were doin this a short time back. my buddy was acting stupid and powerbraked it enough for them to spin about 3 times and nomore problem. i think they were getting corroded in the rain
alot of time its in the quality of the shoes. cheaper shoes do it worse, typicly its only for the first few applications till the shoes get heated up, thats ok. if it does it everytime then its most likely contaminated shoes from oil. if there is no oil you can scuff the shoes and chamfer the edges to get a lot of relief. its simple to see where the shoes hit first on the drum by the wear pattern on the shoes, adjust using cookies for an angle grinder and chamfer the top and bottom edge of both shoes to relieve the issue
Thanks. It seems to do it just the first few times so maybe that is just normall and I will have to deal with it. I will check the shoes though and see what type of wear pattern they are showing. Thanks for the tips
