alright can someone please tell me what wire i put the pressure switch to? i cant find which ones the iginition wire and i cant really leave the truck in the driveway another day. thanks.
your pressure switch is what will need 12v on one side and the other side should go to your solenoid (or if your brave, straight to the positive lead on your compressor.) I dont recommend running your compressor directly off your pressure switch, as most compressors have a higher load than the pressure switch are rated for.
So, you would have a 12v from your igntion, which goes to one side of your arming switch in your cab. The other side of the arming switch goes to one side of the pressure switch. The other side of the pressure switch goes to either a solenoid or your compressor 12v lead.
what color is the ignition wire that im looking for? so i got it wire relay > pressure switch and then nothing on the other terminal. the compressor goes through the relay and the is grounded. im trying to make it so the compressor is only on when the ignition is on but i cant figure what color/wich wire im supposed to splice into. sorry it this is hard to understand im freezin my butt of and cant really type what im thinking.
ignition 12v------> |control switch |----------->| Pressure Switch |------->|solenoid|----------->12v lead on compressor
As for your igntion wire, I dont know what color it would be. I think its differnet on some years. The best way to find it, is to use a volt meter and probe the harness underneath the steering column for a wire that gets 12v when the switch is on, and nothing when the switch is off.

yeah you can. And if you want, you can always go back and add it later.
Just remember.. let the pressure switch be the switch that sends 12v to the solenoid (or relay) for the compressor.
the pressure switch isnt really rated for a high current, thats why we use a solenoid or high current relay.
Thanks for all the help! got everything done about last night around 1 but then some more this morning. right now its on a push button momentary not the horn circuit but its working good. the one flaw i found out and need to replace is that the air valve can not op under 200 psi. works great at around 150psi. so now im gonna either switch the pressure switch for a smaller one or get the valve that will operate under the pressure. i'll get some pics up i love it you cant even see the horns unless your under my bed. and yes i still have my spare.
Glad you got it going TP. Your air valve isnt working below 150psi? Are you sure you have the airflow hooked up correctly to the valve? There is an inlet and an outlet on the air valve.
Boo, that was my first thought i checked it and the arrow is going towards the horns but i could have gotten it wrong the arrow is suppoed to point toward the direction of air that goes to the horns right? I figured out yesterday when we were playing around waiting for people, i let a little air out around 160 psi and because its on a switch the compressor didnt go on. then the air valve would open up and we could hear the horns. i think its a faulty valve but who knows i'll email siege now.
uponyou, if those are siege horns my guess would be their hammer4s i thought they were a little high pitched but horns sound different to everyone. best bet would be go to siege's site and listen to them.
The systems you guys are posting are great but I just wanted to add this setup. Its a lot cheaper [eBay parts totalling less than $125 including horns] and works. I'm in the process of changing it from my old truck to the new one so when its done I'll post pics. Here are the air line and wiring diagrams in the mean time.
The air lines are 3/8", one to each horn and I'm running two (2) tanks approx. 8" tall by 6" diameter, Hadleys I believe. The compressor is a Hadley unit that doesn't require an extremely heavy power line. I simply use a 14 gauge wire and its never even heated up. Compressor and tanks are mounted under the hood where the second battery would be [I have a 5.4]. Horns aren't mounted yet. I haven't found a location yet.
Hope it helps someone. Diagrams are in my Gallery if you need them.
Later... Brewster...

Reason: Additional Info
Thats where I got my train horns from... and just about everyone i know has bought from the guys at Seige! They are awesome. I have had my setup for a few months now, and I use mine everyday. His horns are superb, and man do they sound good. I will try and get some video of my truck and post it on youtube. In my honest opinion... The Kong series are about as close to a set of Nathan Air Chimes as you can get. They sound almost identical to Nathan Air Chimes, but are only a fraction of the cost. They sound exactly like a freight train.
Hey TP, you might want to check out SMC valves. I have been using SMC valves on all the lowriders and air ride systems we do. I swapped out the valves that came with my horn setup for SMCs cause they are so reliable and fast acting. They are a pilot style air valve, and only require about 2 psi to fully close and seat. You can usually find SMC's on ebay by searching for SMC air ride. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SMC-1...spagenameZWDVW
These are the exact same valves that weve been putting in air ride setups for about 6 years now, and we've yet to have someone bring their ride back because of a bad valve.
