yeah i'd like to get a set of them, but i am afraid i would get myself in trouble with em .....hehe

besides im not so sure about the best mounting and placement; heres my reasoning....

First i'd want them hidden.

I live in Montana ... 90% of the time our roads arent that nice, (rain, snow, mud, gravel, de-icer, dust, etc. etc.) and we dont have as much pavement as some of u city folks.... so....

mounting them underneath the vehicle ....
how would they hold up? (im guessing not well to our conditions)
what about protecting them in some way? (is there room to build some kind of enclosure/box?)
i dont want to lose my spare tire or any of my bed space if at all possible.
except i may consider mounting the air tank and compressor in the bed of the truck as a last resort for protection.
what about puting things inside the fenders in some way?
maybe since i have a 5.4L i can find some more space in the engine compartment..
what about in the front bumper and then enclosing it some how to keep road debri out?

due to the size of the horns, I had to mount them on the frame. I didn't want to give up my spare but wanted to keep them hidden, so i mounted them on the passenger side. the compressor and tank are behind the rear seat since i really wanted the compressor protected.

I went over a small tree the other day and it tore off one of the horns. I couldn't believe it when I saw that they are plastic. At any rate, I made a metal plug for the horn block (it is for 3 horns) and put it where the third horn was at. Then I fit a piece of steel and bolted to the frame and running board brackets. this totally protects the horns now.

i was sad to loose the one horn, but am actually pretty happy about it now. it still sounds the same, just louder! i can take some pics if you want.

Guy's:
The Siege Engineering horns are metal, come in sets of 3 or 4, my set is the 3 set, they will take up 15in long,7in wide, 6in high. That's a pretty small overall space required. As I said, I just got mine, and haven't installed them yet. I'm going to TRY to put them behind the licsense plate in the front bumper area, looks like I have that much room. They have a "show" chrome finish, they could be mounted on the roof, But I thought that might look a little "neckish".

If you like playing in the dirt beware of mounting them on the frame. My friend ripped his off the frame last night.

im afraid of riping them off im gonna find the best place possible to mount my horns when they get here. but then again ive never done any heavy wheeling in the 350 mostly just cruise down to the lake for to get on the boat but its always paved until the last 100 yrds. or pulling other out of the mud.

I figure that my 450 is high enough off the ground, besides I'm always on a highway towning the 5th wheel etc.

Here are some pics. Sorry, I havent been online in a couple of days. Like I said, I added a piggy back 2 1/2 gallon tank, 1/2" lines, and a 1/2" solenoid valve. Makes them extremely loud. I cant figure out how to get the pics, so here are some links to my gallery.

Is it possible in your guys' set ups to adjust the airflow into the horn, example- the further you push the button the louder it gets, as a pose to just being fully on or fully off. Heres a video of what I'm talking about - http://youtube.com/watch?v=3zf1_brMYEw

you would need a manual valve as opposed to electric

6.0 could you see the horns from a distance with them under the truck? i see how you used the bracket of the running board to hide if end of the horn intentional or not its a great idea. awsome setup you got.

O.K., don't everyone yell at me at once but... Why not mount them where they're supposed to be? [On the roof] Is the possiblilty of corrosion that bad with these trucks?

Later...
Brewster...

the roof could be a possiblity but the fact that they may be illegal and i wouldnt want everyone to know about them would be a reason to mount them under the truck. I dont plan on using them alot just when i need to or when im in vacation at the lakes for fun and what not. and they do look a little funny on the roof but they have been done on these sized trucks before.
