transmission problem

transmission problem
My 91 1 ton wouldn't engage in anything but reverse this morning. Tranny fluid was not on the dipstick so I added but it would just come out the vent/ overflow or whatever on the bottom of tranny but wouldn't show on the dipstick. Any ideas?

Seal on the front end of the tranny/pump section blown-time to pull tranny would be my guess. sorry about that! Others with more tranny expertise will no doubt be along, so don't do it on my say so at this point!

If you mean the drain pipe on the bell housing, that could be the front seal, torque convertor.......?? Time to drop that small pan and look around inside, engine off....
Check for cracks in the TC (rotate) or a noticeable river of fluid from the front of the trans........
