Oil Dipstick Problem 351C
I purchased a Mr Gasket dipstick for my 73 351C 4V and it is not long enough!
The ring around the tube, where I guess it's supposed to rest on the block, does not lay flush on the hole on the block, if I do lay the tube flush on the block, I cannot use the tube to head mounting bracket because it wouldn't coincide.
Summit sent me another dipstick just in case, but it's exactly the same! (The dipstick box does read 70- 74 351C)
Am I missing something? a spacer? a gasket? something in between?
HELP PLEASE!
Anyone ever had this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Abel
I wouldnt know the difference never had a cleveland.
Make sure you have dipstick out of tube before you mount the bracket, right? Theres always a catching point with the dipstick.
Good luck
Just FYI Summit has told me that the Mr Gasket dipstick has indeed a manufacture imperfection. They have compared one of these dipsticks with other manufacturers' and they are the only ones which are different.
I hope it's useful to know about it if you're planning on buying one of these for your Cleveland.
To sum up; stay away from part number: MRG-6922
Cheers,
Abel
