Ive had stock, AFE2, AIS, AIS with mods, Ive finally settled on the 6.0 oem intake setup. This is from Clux's gallery https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=24627 as I havent taken pictures of mine yet. Its not a direct bolt on by any means, and takes some engineering, but I think its the best solution yet. 6oh guys say not to change it until they go above the 500 hp level, because the aftermarket stuff has no gain until then, and at that point, the aftermarket filters filter less, which is why they work better at higher hp, (lower egts anyways, more dirt obviously) And its a donaldson powercore, and its facing the right way, unlike the AIS, which has a smallgap between the inlet to the filter, and the box itself. Its your choice, I have about $75 in my setup. It all comes down to how much you can get a 6oh oem intake for.
Pete, sounds like it will work. I'd like to close mine up a bit, to help with noise. The 6637 is a little big for that effort, it would work. Maybe I'll just attemp to shield the filter towards the firewall and possible the fender area. Sort of an "L" shape. That might be enough to get rid of some of the noise. Or maybe a bigger stereo !!
If you shield it towards the firewall, you'll be directing the sound towards the truck. I'm looking to model something after the AFE setup where the box is opening towards the front headlights with extra intake pipes coming from both sides of the radiator... might even toss in a 800-1200 cfm 10" dimater fan if I can shoehorn it into the package design, but that will certainly require relocating the driver side battery to do those extra pipes and the fan.
I put the airaid set up in mine and got 1.5 mpg increase. The kit that I got, includes a tray to relocate the battery and seals the new shroud up against the hood.

Yes, that's a nice set up but the 6637 only costs $55 in town and $27 from Fleetfilter, thats why alot of people use it.
