Depends on what you are looking for. The Motorcraft AIS has the best filtration but others have a bit better flow if you have BIG horsepower.

Like mentioned above, it depends what you want.
In all reality, the stock paper filter is perfectly fine for stock trucks. But what fun is that...

The 6637 is the most popular. It's a DIY filter that is cheap, filters and flows well. It can be obtained from main retail and online stores and lasts a long time. It is a good overall filter without being exceptional in any catagory.

The AIS I my choice. I ran a 6637 for about 2 years and now have my AIS. The AIS is the best filtering system while still flowing enough for (reportedly) 400-500hp. It also lasts a LONG time and comes with bragging rights. Not many people can say they use the same kind of filter as the M1-A1 tank. It's also more expensive than the 6637 and replacement filters are pricy but they have a long life.

Other options include aFE and S&B for quality intakes. Generally people who have high power machines go with these kits because they can flow enough air to support the demand.

AIS with a fender sleeve is fantastic for up to some decent HP numbers. But for 450+ hp, you're going to have to go with an open element like an aFe Stage II intake. But even with some performance injectors, the AIS with a fender sleeve flows plenty of air, filters outstandingly, and has a lifespan of about 50k depending on environment (pavement versus dirt roads).

I ran the 6637 for 6 years and just changed over to the Ford AIS 3 weeks ago. Main reason, it IS quieter and I seem to get a little better throttle response, also a slight mileage improvement.
