When you go to buy a gasket kit from Fram or other gasket makers, they differentiate between a '79-'85 gasket kit and a '85-'87.5 gasket kit. Does someone know what the differences between '85 and '87 are? Could it be something in the timing cover? I'm putting '87 heads and timing cover etc on a rebuilt '85 shortblock and I don't want to run into problems after I get started. (I'm not sure about the beginning year of the earlier gasket kit, but just using 1979 for example)
Thanks in advance for your knowledge and experience.

If the set is a complete gasket set, the only difference may be in the carb baseplate gasket or something. Its probably going to be emissions related, something stupid Im sure.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Mar-02 AT 04:53 PM (EST)]I might be answering my own question, but It might have something to do with the valley pan gasket. The one PDF file download from Canadian Hi Performance showed the full gasket set price at $47for the years '68- 6/85. Then from 6/85-'87 the price is $125.95. The 85-87 has $49 valley pan intake gasket as part of the package and the '68-'85 has a $20 intake gasket listed. There has to be other differences though because of the kit price difference.
