Do you have your EBPV unplugged? just wondering because mine is on a switch and during the scan it said the EBP solenoid not responding so I guess it would set a code Originally Posted by Knotwild

Mine is not unplugged right now. I have had this truck since last October and it has always shown that code. I know it is because the steel line from the manifold to the sensor is plugged with carbon, but fixing it just isn't too high on my too do list right now.
With the tube plugged and a code set does this make your EBPV not work? or does it still function?
sorry for the silly question I'm just a curios guy LOL

It does not work. It tries to come on for a few seconds when I first crank it up, but then cuts off. I am no expert or even decent mechanic. But, my understanding is that the sensor is part of a closed loop system. Most here in the forum have said that it is simply to turn the ebv on or off. I just don't know if the computer is using the info for tuning the engine or not. I do know that putting the 203 thermostat in made my truck come alive though. So, I think a lot of people might be running trucks with thermostats that are worn out and not getting the EOT up.
i never did figure out my problem. my engine oil temp at operating temp is right at 200-203*. buzz tests and cylinder contribution checked out ok. EBPV is now unplugged since it finally was staying shut and i figured it out thanks to my edge saying my exhaust backpressure was at 19-20 psi!!! lol. Cody and i are going to slam it with some injectors before too long so we will see what that does unless any of you have anymore ideas for me?

Well, i put the 203 thermostat in. The truck still seems like it has the miss while warming up. But, on the other had my old thermostat was making the truck run too cool. Truck does run better now but old issue still present. As a referance, i know the stock gauge is not very accurate, the gauge used to read on the "n" when warm now runs on the "r" strait up. I too am planning on injectors so i guess we will see.

I have not pulled any codes, will the testers at parts stores be able to pull codes from a 95 - non obd2?

I am not sure about the tester at the parts stores. I would ask them about it and if they said it would work and it was reasonably priced, I would buy one. Save the receipt and if it dosen't work, get the money back.
