Those overhead displays are notorious for being very inacurate especially when electrical mods are done to engine sensors. Chips will do the same thing. No way the 10k mod will affect mileage like that.
haha, good, that's what i was telling him, it's way too good to be true. it idles pretty shabby though, really rough and loopey. this isn't bad for the engine is it? it's a nuisance when pulling up to a light because the auto-trans doesn't disengage and the rough idle translates into jittery power to the wheels, jerking the truck slightly.
Sounds to me like your buddy's truck doesn't like 15K. You might make sure the engine oil level is up to where it should be. If it is, his HPOP may not be keeping up with what the PCM thinks it sees.
Try backing off to a 14.7K or lower combination and see how the truck responds. Different trucks will like different combinations. You just have find the one your (his) vehicle responds to the best.
I love the 10k mod coon style when my truck is cold it runs just like your friends but when warm works awesome It's cold here in the mornings usually -15c to -20c so I played around with stuff and found a solution I wired up in place of the resistor a 10k pot. now I can turn it back to stock for the morning start ups and adjust all the way back to 10k when warm this mod cost me nothing stole a pot from an old baby monitor and the rest of the stuff I had lying around
the overhead consoles are never right, do it by your mileage and gallons to fill. you can get the pcm reprogrammed for the 37's as well.
and yup, the only drawback to my mod is on really cold days its more **** to start. you are dumping alot more fuel to it then it expects but as long as i give it a little more time to pre-heat i have no issues

yeah your not kidding about the fuel yesterday morning it was perty cold out and with the 10k it made so much unburnt fuel smoke my smoke alarm in the front porch went off lol
what exactly is this doing and will it help my 95 stroke
Here's some "light" reading on this subject. Basically, we're tricking the PCM into thinking the HPOP pressure is low. The PCM then increases the pressure to the HPOP, which causes the injectors to push more fuel into the cylinders.
