it does "work" but a 10K does not make much of a noticeable difference. You could swap it out for a 5.6K resistor, but your idle is going to be rough. I had a 5.6K on a switch for a while, then got a chip, then sold the chip and now I'm back to stock with the exception of a 140 Volt IDM.
ALSO make sure you're using a more heavy-duty resistor, not the cheap ones you get in hobby-electrical projects. Prob costs a couple of bucks for a pack of 5 at Radio-shack or a similar electrical store
In my opinion, it's not worth cutting up the stock wiring. I tried many resistors from 10k up to 22k at different intervals. I could tell a little improvement with a couple of them, but also had a choppy idle.
I would put it back to stock and save up for a good chip. You'll be much happier.
With the resistor mods, every truck is different. You have try a bunch of combinations to see which combo your truck likes. My truck likes the 15.6K right now, had it in for 2 yrs now. Gonna get a chip in the future, but my horses and rodeo suck all my money away, they are worse than kids... Anything higher than 20K and my truck falls flat on its face.
