Just picked up a 1992 F150 XLT 4X4 with 351w E4OD Auto locking hubs single cab swb single rear 16 gallon tank sliding rear glass. power options not including windows (wtf?) Maxxis Buckshot mudder 32x11.50x15 stock wheels.
Has some new parts like tie rods bushings etc. also radiator and a/c are supposed to be all new complete overhaul/resto
this is my first single cab true swb truck and im super excited to drive it. Its going to need some work but it still looks great! will be posting some other threads to ask questions and possibly start a build thread.
nice truck kawininjazx.XLT with crank windows uh? does it have carpet or a vinyl floor?
id toss those auto lockers and put in some trusted manuals asap.
.... power options not including windows (wtf?) ....
That used to be a relatively popular combo when it was available, keeping the reliability of manual windows and getting the convenience of the other power options. When I ordered my '85 F-250 I couldn't get that so I went manual everything to avoid power windows.

and turned out the electric windows ended up being pretty reliable.20 or so years latter most trucks probably haven't been touched.a few had to replace a motor or whatnot here and there but no widespread failures reported.
that said,iv always preferred manual windows.......save for being able to control the pass side is handy.pretty much everything comes with electric windows these days.there's probably kids out there in their 20's who have never even touched a window crank in their life i bet!
i snapped me one of those before too in chip truck,Terry.at a few less miles though.i'v got a lot of catching up to do.

oops I don't know how I typed windows, I meant the mirrors are not power, I agree with yall about the crank window reliability but I don't like not being able to adjust my passenger mirror while driving down the road.
It does have power windows and they are sticking a little haha they should have ordered it with the cranks :P
it has a carpet floor which is good and bad I guess but I prefer vinyl, oh well might change it out if the carpet gets to looking too bad.
I was thinking about grabbing some trusty manuals for when/if the auto's fail, its nice tho not having to get out to lock the hubs. but not so nice I guess when they fail and you cant lock them at all
ill edit my first post to say mirrors not windows if I still can. and thanks I love it.

The power mirrors are a mixed blessing, and manual mirrors are much more common than manual windows on these trucks. Yes it's nice to be able to adjust the passenger side mirror without getting out and walking around the truck. But the power mirrors that were offered back then are smaller and a little less truck-like than the manual mirrors. I had the power mirrors on my '95 F-150, and they were OK. But the manual mirrors on my '97 F-250 work better (other than being harder to adjust). Especially when towing a wide trailer or carrying my slide-in camper it was easy to make extenders for the manual mirrors. I could put aftermarket towing mirrors on the F-150, but they didn't work nearly as well.
Homemade extended mirror mount with manual mirror
My old '95 F-150, sorta showing the little power mirrors.

that blue f150 is B E A Utiful. yeah I have those small mirrors, which is the reason I think it is weird for them to be manual. I just thought the small ones were all power. either way I like the look better and I guess its just one less thing to fail as my grandpa would say.
seriously, I want an extended cab just like that eddie bauer truck, AWESOME!
My 96 has the small mirrors and they are manual. But I have manual everything. I wish I had the older style large mirrors like that one shown with the extension, I had those on the 79 I used to drive. My all time favorites were my West Coast style mirrors on my 71, the large semi truck looking ones, they were the best ever!
My 96 also has vinyl floor with cloth seat, which was an unusual find when I bought it back in 96. I can't wait until December, I will have owned it for 20 years

oh yeah.the XLT didn't automatically get power mirrors.they were an option and not a whole lot of them got those as far as i know.
if you plan on having your truck for a long time, you should go ahead and source the required parts to add it.i bet it would be a fun project.

Thanks. But the fact that it was only about 5 years old when that picture was taken doesn't hurt it's looks either. I sold that truck when the kid with the teddy bear was in middle school and didn't fit in the SuperCab back seat. And now he's graduated from college
