Ok guys Im not in to racing at all but when this hotshot Dodge next to me at a light I said Oh what the heck. He wanted it an let me know it an off he went. He beat me unfortuantly but I wasnt really trying. Oh my ego was crashed for a second but I forgot about it. Now there was no traffic in sight so it was safe to race. But its really a stupid idea for safety purposes. Who says racing doesnt go on withthese trucks. I think it goes on all the time. So have you guys ever been guilty off this? Or am I the only one?
About a year ago, a Dodge Hemi 4 Door 2wd raced me from a light to where the road narrowed to one lane. Neck and neck from the start. He was beside me at the merge and I let out to keep him from running off the road. My wife and in-laws were with me and I didn't want to cause an accident. Probably would have been "no contest" with my chip on the "race" setting.
I've never actually raced my truck, but i've saw a f-250 and a chevy, both diesel, racing one time. I don't think that there was a clear winner because they caught up with a lot of traffic.
I sure hope my truck will beat a hemi once the DP tuner is installed, I'm always teasing my son in law about his dodge and the only thing he has on me is he can take me in a race! I mean come on, it's dodge, what else could he have on me? Everything else fails miserably in comparison. You'd think I'd be the grown up, I just can't seem to pull it off, sometimes it's too much fun being immature
Anyhow, like it or not, racing is in man's nature. I mean, people race frickin lawnmowers and Golf carts.
I spanked a Hemi bad on the freeway last summer. It wasn't even a contest, I spanked him good and he knew it. There is a thread about it here somewhere. Since then I have sworn off speed contests due to the safety factor. I know my truck will eat a Hemi so there's really no sense to it now.
I know its bad to say but I race my truck all the time aroudn here I live in a small town down in south Ga and there are alot of open rd's and not alot of people. I was pulling out of my brother subdivsion the other day pulling my 5x8 trailer and this mustand was coming from the other way. I pulled out just going normal and I seen him starting to get on it he had his girl with so I pushed on the 7.3 just alittle then he realized the f350 wanted some so stayed in I went ahead and pushed it on down and just walked away from the mustang on up to well over 110 he knew he had lost so he backed off with is pride hurt no doubt. We pulled up and the next redlight he just looked up at me and gave me a wave then he turned .....he was in a 2000 or so GT with that slow 4.6 .......I dont race alot but I get in alot of me pulling away from people. The only thing i have on my truck is the superchip microtuner
I'm not much of a racer (i'm not really interested in the ticket!) but I do like to mess with the ricers and get them all riled up in hopes they'l scoot on down the road and find themsleves a smokey.
It surprises me how often people just assume these trucks are slow. I guess that old mentality big=slow. I pull a trailer a lot in the summertime and I always get these little tweakers in Jeeps and stuff assume I am moving slow and try to pull past me. I always pass them on the uphills, and once we hit the peak man here they come, flying down the passes at 99MPH trying to catch up with me. Usually they do, wheels wobbling and body parts shuddering in the wind...at least until the next hill, and I pass 'em up again.
oh yeah pulling the trailer that fast was stupid no doubt ..........talk about a rice burner getting pulled over I was in my wifes corrola when one passed by so I jumped on it her car is so slow but the burn just had a pipe that was all i think anyways we passed a cop I said dang he got me so I slowed down and got in the right lane he flew past me dn pulled over the car with the pipes I thought it was funny at the time
Anyone used to pulling a trailor knows that you can lose control of one quickly...and at that rate of speed I don't think there would be any hope of recovery, things would deteriorate in the blink of an eye. Be careful out there.
Has anyone raced a turbocharged GAS engine and won?
yep, i did out in the country by my dads farm. a WRX, an older one so I thought I could take it no prob. I have always wanted to go up against one to see what whould happen. I had my DP in the 80 econo and by about 50 mph he SCREAMED past me. i was embarrassed and learned my lesson to leave the cars alone. I think the wrx was all tuned up though, it had an exhaust and a BOV at least, haha. Now i stick to the trucks unless someone really irks me and i will just get em going and then slow down when they go speeding past or whatever. I took a chebby pick up 4 door with a bunch of teens in it and had a real loud exhaust with the music blasting. That was no contest, and man did it **** them off! they were on my "good side" too, yep the exhaust side.
