When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Most of that stuff is over with. You can post whatever you want, and I won't jump on you, and unless the spam filter catches it, there's really no issues with posting links to anywhere now.
The only exceptions I know of are sites that actively tried to recruit people from this site. And even then, it's not really verboten.
Try it, I dare you
This is kind of way OT Art, but related: I've been on a short leash after mentioning one of those sites in a PM. I even had a post from Ken in the related thread. He didn't want copyrighted material on his site...OK.
It seems like the longer I'm here, the less functionality I have within the site: No email or PM option, no search, I can't even "find all posts" by any user. The whole thing seems kind of fickle to me, makes me reluctant to pony up $15 for a membership, especially since I'm cheap to begin with.
So I guess my question is, how much of this is because I'm too cheap to become a supporter, and how much is because I PO'd the Webmaster?

If you're taking copyrighted information from another source and just pasting it here, that's not allowed.
But linking to another site, again, unless it was a site that was actively recruiting users from FTE, I don't think there is a problem anymore.
How long ago was that?
To FFR428, PM me that link, and I'll get an OFFICIAL statement about it's being allowed or not.
Here's a link Art. I can live with the bad-boy stigma...I'll just keep my head down and my big mouth shut while I can still log on. Since you are asking for specific info, I listed <!-- Ford bananna ification in a PM. --> FTE Staff note: no deliberate by-passing of site filters, EVER. That's how I deduced the site filters content.
The whole deal just seemed kind of abrupt to me. I can't see a check for $15 making much difference.
Well, as I said, posting copyrighted information is NOT allowed. Period.
I think that covers that thread you posted pretty clearly. There's no arbitrariness to it, it's all about copyrighted material being posted.
What is odd to me is that I did not post any material in the thread. I did not post any link to another site. I typed the site's name in a PM.
If the powers that be consider that posting copyrighted material, OK, whatever...lesson learned. There is too much laughing, smiling and having fun for me to get all butt-hurt over the deal.
LOL Hyp I gotta say to know that they are monitoring the PM's is kinda freeky I think maybe it's time for some fun if any of you get a PM from me concerning (farm sex, over 90 and still at it, things you can do with a coke bottle etc.. it's just part of the research LMAO!!!)
1. We do not monitor PMs. I'd rather watch grass grow than spend god knows how many hours a day reading the dozens (or more, not sure but there are 400K PMs in the system) of PMs sent daily through FTE. Putting 2+2 together doesn't take a rocket scientist or "monitoring" PMs.
2. Deliberately by-passing a filter: never a good idea. The system traps that.
3. Other resource links: allowed. This particular one: not allowed. The owner spammed FTE with over 300 links in his posts, then lied about it in a public cry me a river rant.
