I am asking this for a friend, I know nothing about this. I will print out the answers and take them to him. The reason he is asking is because his E4od is shot.
"Is it possible to put a torqshift transmission out of a 6 liter powerstroke and put it behind a 2000 7.3 liter?"

Thanks, John
Maybe if he has enough money and time. Problem is besides adapting the transmission to the engine, the PCM must be changed and reprogrammed. The PCM on the Torqueshift equipped trucks uses CAN bus protocol and the 2000 SD does not. In the remote chance this swap is doable, it will take alot of money and trial & error testing to get it to perform correctly.
Your buddies best option IMO is to have the 4R100 (FYI starting with the 99 MY the 4R100 was used in place of the E40D) rebuilt by a reputable shop to Heavy Duty specs. Suncoast transmissions is one source. http://www.suncoastconverters.com/fo...d_product.html
Suncoast is a good 4R100 place in the southeast, Brians Truck Shop (BTS) is the go-to guy in the central area, and John Wood is the guy for the west coast. Those places are known and recommended by folks in the 7.3 forum -- I haven't used any of them myself. I'd start there and see what that gets you. Seems like around $3500 is the price for a pretty stout 4R100. Probably much cheaper and certainly less painful than trying to make a 5R110 work.
