downpipe wrap

does anybody else have their down pipe wrapped? i was playin with the truck all day and one of my projects was to remove the downpipe and wrap it with insulation. i dont like how close it is to the tranny and the solonoid body connector. granted there is a shield over the connector but i still dont like the close routing to the tranny and i wrapped her up today.

I wouldn't wrap it. Too close to every thing else and I hear wrapping it just collects metal destroying moisture

being too close is exactly why i wrapped it, wel its not wrap, its like aluminum foil with fiberglass inside, it fits around the pipe but isnt absorbant against the pipe itself, i'll snap a few pics tomaroww in the light

No neccesarily. keeping the heat in the exhuast keeps it moving faster (more velocity) Many ceramic coat the mainolds, up-pipe, turbo housing and downpipe for two reasons. One to keep heat out of the engine compartment and two to keep the heat in the exhuast to drive the turbo faster. Hot air moves faster so cold air also moves slower which can cause back pressure.

Coon,
You could try something like this, http://www.thermotec.com/product_detail.php?prd_id=22 It is not so prone to soak up moisture like regular header wrap. It is a little pricey, but if you wanted some type of heat shield this would do without having to worry about you DP rusting away.
