egr valve

i have been reading on this site for the last month about unplugging your egr and what it could or not do. i also remember reading that doing this will not cause your check engine light to come on. since it was a simple disconnect i decided go ahead and give a try to see if anything changed well i havent drove the truck yet but one thing has already changed i now have a bright yellowish goofy looking engine staring me in the face. i followed all the instructions in the egr disconnect thread. when i plugged it back up the check engine light went off. has anyone else had there check engine light come on after they unplugged there egr valve or is there something else i need to or do i have a problem somewhere. like i said i havent even drove the truck with unplugged so this might not even be that big of a deal it might not make my truck any better so it might just stay plugged up
