EGR Disconnect = Engine Light

Unplugged my EGR valve yesterday and it made my engine light come on. So I plugged it back in and the light went away after a few starts. Did anybody else have their light come on? My truck is an 04/04 F350. I believe I read of somebody getting a failed EGR valve someplace and using that?

No, California and related states (emissions) engines will turn on the light with EGR disconnect.

Mine is an 02/03 CA model with the emissions flash. The light comes on when I disconnect the EGR.

Have an 01/04 engine build date bought in Kent Washington. No Light. Am anxiously awaiting my Predator to check for codes.

fordsd - you WILL have egr codes... but they don't effect the performance - have had my egr disconnected for about a month now with no ill effects...

I assume that clearing it with the predator will only last until the next start. So I will need to clear the codes and install the original program before dealer service?

Oh, by all means...
You should ALWAYS reconnect egr, restore stock program, and clear codes (in that order) before service --- ALWAYS !

And clear codes once more after going back to stock to ensure they ARE cleared...

you don't want the dealer install a new flash and then it doesn't match your predator stored original flash...
your predator would stop working with your truck,
you'd be driving a stock truck,
and you'd probably be red flagged and lose your ford warranty...
but other than that - it's up to you

And do it a couple days before you take it to the dealer. I did that the last time and sat in the street outside the dealer and reloaded the 65HP program after I left.
