well i am going to try and test drive on first chance i get and if it feels as good or better than the PSD then i will work with my salesman (family friend) and see if he can work down his manager and get me some good incentives.
I sent you a PM, I would look into finding the truck you want V10 or 6.4 D and then find someone with access to an X-Plan PIN Number...I am pretty sure that any dealer must honor the X-Plan Pin and has to sell you the truck at that set X-Plan price and not a jacked up V10 is in high demand price because gas is cheaper than Diesel? There are people on this forum who can help you get an X Plan pin, works if you order the truck too!!!
there is a 1k cash back plus when truck month rolls around thats another 1500 cash back plus the dealership is willing to take off ALOT just to get the diesel off the lot. i got my sales man to take a 50K FX4 PSD down to 43K and if i ordered it i would get the Dealer Loyalty dicount that takes another 2K off the price. They just want to get rid of all these PSDs. I past by three dealerships today and all three of them have atleast 7+ PSDs on the lot but no V10s or 5.4Ls, i stopped and talked to my salesman and he said they are getting a V10 next week but there is already someone from Mexico eyeing it and he is willing to pay cash for the truck
Might want to check into the cash back incentive on business related accessories. When I bought my 02 new they gave me 1000 cash back after I gave them 1200 worth of reciepts on accessories. Weather gaurd toolbox, sprayon lines and b&w g/n cost me about 300 bucks. I dont know what the current program is, but I know it has been around for a long time.
i wonder if they give a discount for small buisness owners, would be nice.
I dont remember what was involved to get the equipment rebate. I deal with a very small dealer and they handled the paperwork, but I am a small business owner and I got it.
close too, like i said, my dealer gets diesels all the time and they do not sell well, usally they are sold on Ebay or shipped out to places where they want diesels. Most of the diesels either go to Mexico or to other states

Your in Texas correct? I thought damn near every 3/4 ton and up truck in Texas was diesel powered. You mean to tell me the V-10 has a big dealer markup yet people buy them. But on the other hand diesels are discounted big time so they'll sell with most going to Mexico or other states. Your are in Texas right? I'm sorry but I find some of this hard to swallow since your comments go against the trend of diesels outselling gassers everywhere else in this country.
If what you say is true about this dealer, what dealer is it? If they are discounting them less than they cost I can drive down to the toilet bowl to get my next new pickup!!
i live in Mercedes, and yes i live in south Texas the only thing is people want the old diesels, most people i know have the 7.3L or the early 6.0L, i see very few 08 models but i see alot of them leave to Mexico. Rio Grande Valley has some of the lowest gas prices i have seen. When i went to WI for the first time gas was 2.30 for regular, by the time i got to WI the gas price their was around 3.25 for regular. When i got back gas was around the same. Today i pumped 3.00 for premium (the stang only takes 93 with the new tune) so people buy the gassers.
Plus most of the people that come from Mexico are the owners of major oil companies or high payed workers that can afford 2 or more houses and a couple of vehicles ( i have seen alot of trucks leave the local dealership that were payed in full and taken across the border)

ARGH!!!!! this is getting me mad, no dealership in the valley has a V10 on the lot, even when i try and check the inventory online it does not let me choose V10 as a filter option. I am going to call my dealer and see if they will get one in but i think they are going to tell me it is by order only. This is not cool, i want to test drive a V10 so i can offically say which truck i want. I believe i just need to test drive a truck to get a deffinate answer

read my prior post in the v10 section - i went through everything you are going through.
1) dz costs 5200 more by invoice (what you really pay for it). Plus you need to add the supplemental heater if you live up north - so around 5500 cost. plus you add the interest on the 5500 minus the savings in gas. the v10 is around 600 cost. both depreciate about the same rate. you can do all the math for fuel cost or savings - that will give you a bigger headache. you can order a new cc 4x4 kr in wi with a v10 loaded for 42000. invoice minus rebates. the prices you are quoting are just plain crazy. tell the salesmen to get off the drugs. you can order one for close to invoice minus 2000 in current rebates on the cc at my local dealer in wi and pick it up in jan or feb. they will be more than happy to sell you one near invoice. i took the 5000 i saved and put all new hardwood floors in my kitchen and family room so my wife is happy too!
2) i drove 4 hours twice to test drive the v10 in a cc lariat 4x4. it is a different beast - so quiet that you think you are going slower but you really are not by much if at all. look at the article that compared the v10 and psd empty and pulling on flat land and there is not much difference in acceration. up hills with wt the dz obviously will win. the v10 is lighter up front and i felt it was a better daily driver unless you drive only on highways. it is quieter.
3) reliability - the real reason i chose the new v10. say what you want - the new psd is complicated. 6 radiators, exhause coolers, fuel coolers, high pressure rail injection, and the notorious dpf filter. the v10 is just a simpler mechanical design with much less to go wrong. how many gas powered cars/trucks do you know of that have to go back to the dealer in the first 5 yrs of ownership due to anything to do with the engine. i cant think of any of my cars/trucks or friends. i live in north wi - anyone who thinks the new psd will consistently start and run as well in cold temps vs ANY gas engine does not live in a cold climate. my fathers business has over 30 2500/3500 trucks that run all over the country doing road construction and they all run gas - they don't ever tow heavy wts. they just can't break down getting to a new job.
4) the male factor - i like the sound of the dz. it caries lots of testosterone. once you get over this the v10 is more logical unless you tow a lot or put lots of highway miles on your truck and will want a new one before the warantee is up. if mercedes built the psd i would own one. the new v10 with 4.3 rear and ts tranny will easily pull 10,000 all day. you will lose traction pulling before you run out of power with the v10. if you put it in low i bet the 5.4 would be stronger than your traction on any snow or gravel/dirt road. my father an i own over 800 acres and i have done my share of pulling out stuck vehicles. traction is paramount. if we really get stuck we need the small case bulldozer with a wopping 90 hp enigine - it has metal tracks and weighs 9000 lbs. most on this site who crit. the v10 have never even driven one. the only downside is its thirst for fuel and the new dz emmsions make them pretty thirsty too! d
my 2 cents.

Good post theoshin. I like #4, "the male factor". It makes me laugh because one of the things I do not like about the V10, is the sound. Just not manly enough.
