Some 2001-2003 F-150, 2004 F-150 Heritage and 2001-2003 E-150/250 vehicles equipped with a 4.2L engine may exhibit the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1131 and/or P1151 (system too lean bank 1 or 2). This condition may be due to leaking isolator bolts/port gaskets in the upper-to-lower intake manifold mounting area. This condition is sometimes intermittent and may not be apparent on a warmed-up engine.
I have been going crazy with this problem on my 2002 F-150, I have checked and or changed everything possible. Has anyone had this work done at Ford? remember what it cost?
Has anyone done it their self? How hard was it and is there anythig to watch out for?
not much help, bu t i remember some of the 6 cylidner cars had trouble with "lean" mixture which was thought to be one problem and later found to be leaking intake manifold gaskets which allow extra air to be sucked in and cause the "lean" burn.--- you siad you changed everything, are you including the intake manifold gaskets and any gaskets on the suction side of the intake?
I took it to Ford dealer today...hes talking about needing the truck for two days...don't know what hes gonna find when they get in there......
He thinks I'm stupit...Ford book says 2 hours.
I hate having someone work on my truck, but its covered under Ext warranty. I'm wondering what kind of bill to look for (to see how horny they are.LoL-))
