Use a couple of thick rags and put them over the pulley to keep it from getting marred up, and then put a pair of vice grips on the pulley to hold it (this is if you don't have access to or want to buy the special tool). Once you start trying to loosen the fan the vice grips will wedge against the engine. Then if you don't have the fan clutch wrench use a large pair of channel locks to remove the fan. It will have enough leverage to break it loose, then just spin it off.

Did I read somewhere that there is a Int. water pump that has a coolant filter built into it?
I mentioned that several weeks ago, but when I recalled International to see if they had one they said that it wouldn't fit the Ford application. They could get me a pump that was the same as stock, I believe it was also an IH pump, but I didn't think that the price was very reasonable. So I said forget it and just went to Napa and bought one.
