93 Ford Turbo Diesel water pump removal
#2
The only special tool required is one to remove the fan clutch from the waterpump.
That does not really qualify as a special tool but a very large wrench is required.
I do not remember exactly right now, but it is close to a 2 1/2" wrench to fit it.
Also pay close attention to where the bolts come out of, they are different lengths.
You will have to loosen several of the brackets that hold other stuff on. With hand tools I would figure on about 6 hours to change it. You will want to take several breaks from the awkward position you will be in.
Also slide a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to protect it and your hands.
A trip to the car wash to degrease the engine compartment before you start makes it a lot nicer to work on.

It is a left hand thread, and probably has some lock tite on it.
I forgot to mention that in the other post.
I had one come loose, the fan is so heavy that at RPM it went right through the radiator and almost got the AC condensor. Water pump, radiator recored and a couple of hours straightening out the fan again and I was ready to roll again. Considerably lighter in the wallet area than I was before all this happened as well.
If someone used to much lock tite you will have to heat the nut to loosen it.
