Axle code 02J
I have a 73 F-100 with an axle code of 02J. I have done some reading and I am assuming the axle code is just 02, but since it is 2wd the J is something about power steering? I entered this into the one recommended website and it said this was a 2750# 3.00 axle. Is this the axle ration 3.00. The reason I ask this is because when I drive over about 60mph the truck sounds like it's about to explode. It turns so many rpm's it would probaly die before it ever hit 80. Is this normal with a 3spd automatic or is this a lower gear than a 3.00. Thanks

02 for 1973 is a 3.00:1 RATIO
J = Power steering on a certain GVWR front axle.
Perhaps the rear diff gears ahve been replaced with something else.
A door code is just a code from the factory.
You may have to crack it open ...count the gears and do the math
