i went back and checked and it is in fact a 02 axle code w/dana rear.this truck is all original. i purchased it from my neighbor who purchased it new.somewhere in past forums i read someone else talking about the same issue.its my luck to have an oddball.
sorry it took so long to post,i have been out of town.ok,here are the numbers on the tag. VIN# F10GNCG1569 type/gvw ..F100 body ..CD4 trans ..G AXLE ..02j dso..22. hope this helps........thanks
F100 axles. they could come either way
D44- differential cover that can be unbolted from the rear to expose gears. 2900lb capacity 2.75 and 3.00 were the only ratios available and no option for limited slip
9"- no differential cover. hoghead has to be pulled to inspect gears. Center section very round and about basketball size. 3750lb capacity 3.00 3.25 ratios for F100 limited slip an option and more aftermarket parts than you can shake a stick at. these axles are as easy to find as 350 chevy parts.
That is the quickest way to visually check the axle in the truck.
