Puzzling axle code on a 75 f100

Puzzling axle code on a 75 f100

Looking at a 75 f100 locally and copied down the ID plate in the door jamb. The axle code is odd.....17J.

Now code 17 should be a 3.31 gear, but about the "J"? The chart I have doesn't list a J code for a track-lock rear end.

Any ideas?

J means power steering.
