hi, well u know how the truck makes that jet engine noise on warm up in cold mornings, well i was driving, and i noticed the noise still when i stepped on the go peddle. but it went away after the engine temp got up to like 1/4 way.
i dont know if i just didnt notice that noise before because i usually have the air on high inside the truck. so im not sure if it did that before or not?
i also let the engine idle in the mornings for like 4 or 5 minuts, but this morning i just started up and drove off.
Yes, it is. That's just the EBPV(exhaust back pressure valve) closed, and under certain conditions, it will remain closed under part throttle conditions.
not sure it happens when you are driving. after mine has in warm up mode, I touch the brake to put into drive it Idles down from the elevated Idle. always has, so not sure what you talking about with it while yoru driving, but I am sure some one know more than I. I am sure they will chim in
The EBPV will still continue to function while driving in low load situations. However, in cases where the exhaust backpressure sensor cannot read proper pressures (ie blocked tube), then in many cases the valve will stay closed longer even under higher engine load. If you are accelerating and still hear the EBPV closing, then it's time to clean out the sensor tube. http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/ebps.html
well yesterday when i took my truck out, i just started and let it idle for a few seconds, and then i drove off. thats when i was hearing that jet noise as i was driving up my road away from my house.
but on a normal day, ill let the truck idle for 4 or 5 minuts and then when i get out to the ttruck and tap the brake, the truck will idle back down like normal. thing is iv never heard that noise under that condition. well i gues ill see what it does today after i give it a good 5 minut idle warm up.
Mine will do that for miles until it's fully warmed up. Even on the freeway if I'm not climbing a hill.
It's just normal operation and I'm glad that it does it. It warms up the engine faster and it's COLD here in the wintertime with the 40 degrees and rain. The wet air just cuts right through thick clothing and makes you feel colder than if it's 20 below and dry air.
weather.com said this morning here it was 18F out but felt like 11F. so it was pritty cold. so ya i did hear the jet noise today even after 5 minuts of idling, but it did go away as well a few miles down the road. so ya. it made the noise while driving, but went away.
