What would make my boost gauge go from 4 down to 0 and back again at 60mph ? I can hear a hissing sound when it drops and it stops when it comes back up. when I stand on it plenty of power. No chip just gauges and 4in exhust.
that would be your EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve)..it aids in warming up the truck..if you let your truck sit long enough at cold start up..it will start to run at a high idle..a valve will close in the exhaust to build a load on the engine to help it warm faster..when it does close at high idle and parked..and you have a strait pipe exhaust.it sounds like a fighter jet taking off..when temps come up to norm..it will stop closing..

Thats normal. Its your EBPV(exhaust backpressure bypass valve). So iF understand it correctlly.is used to bring the engine up to operating temps qiucker in cold climates. It does this in the way of bypassing the turbo charger when there is no load demand on the engine.Do a search on "ebpv"and you'll get tons of info.Such as what to do when you dont here the hiss on cold morns. And you have noticed a loss in power.
