My airbag light came on this morning after about a 20 minute drive. I turned the truck off and back on and it was still there. When I went home the light never came back on. This is the light in the cluster not the one above the radio. I have an 06 F150 SCREW, has anyone experienced this before and if so what became of the problem. Also there was no warning sounds either.
What is the XM mod? My airbag light flashes at weird intervals and after it's done flashing, it illuminated solid. Usually once I turn the truck off and then back on, it doesn't come on, and it doesn't come on every time I drive, just every once in a while.
Now I ask about the XM Mod because I just bought this truck used and it had all the wiring ran for the XM radio through the dash up through the tray in the dash. I'm thinking maybe there is a wire loose and wondering if there is a airbag connector under the top middle section of the dash that he could have not connected tightly? Thanks.
Pretty good chance they didnt snap the airbag wire in. when you start your truck see if the airbag light comes on above the radio. if not thats more then likely your problem.
As far as the XM mode all you have to do is
plug in the new harness,
unplug the sirus power and antenna.
pop off the green/white plastic cover from the antenna and use it as the XM antenna
use a good strong tape or velcro to mount the xm box under the sirus
put the trim back on and your done
all the data shows on the screen and the controls on the wheel works.
I have the nav system so not sure if it makes a difference or not
The light comes on above the stereo like it should, like when a passenger is sitting over there and then leans forward or takes most of their weight off. So I guess that is not my airbag light problem. And the light does not come on everytime I drive either. Kinda strange, seems like there must be a loose connection or short somewhere.
yOU CAN COUNT THE FLASHES NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS,SAY IF IT FLASHES 2 TIMES THEN PAUSES THEN FLASHES 7 TIMES THAT WOULD BE 27 PASS AIR BAG BAG DEACTIVATION WARNING LAMP CIRCUIT FAILURE.AT THE DEALER WE WOULD HOOK THE IDS SCAN TOOL AND READ THE B CODE (B FOR BODY) 27 WOULD BE B1884.THAT WAY I WOULD BE LOOKING A THE PASS PAD CUT OFF SWITCH INSTEAD OF JUST GUESSING. NOTE NOT ALL AIR BAG CODES HAVE A FLASHOUT CODE ALSO- BUT SINCE YOURS FLASHES SOMETIMES YOU MAY BE ABLE TO PINPOINT PROB WITHOUT GOING TO DEALER
It did seem to be when my buddy would reach around into the back seat or was messing with some things and usually the Passenger Airbag Off light above the radio would come on while he was not fully in his seat. However, it does not do it everytime he got out of his seat as when I stopped the vehicle and restarted it, he tried taking his weight off the seat to see if when that light illuminated it would illiumuniate the dash light also.
It seemed like it was flashing something like 15 and/or 16, or maybe 51 and/or 61. Either way it would flash like once, then five, then once, then six, but I'm not sure which of those numbers it started on.
If there is any chance this is happening close to a airport or Air Force base the ground radar can trigger your light. Yes it is true and Ford knows about it, if this is what is happening it will not hurt anything, so I have been told.
No, when it comes on I'm not close to any airports. There is a very small airport about 10 miles north. And then there is a military base West about 25 miles, but it's not the Air Force. I'm not really sure. I can't find anything on the internet about code 16 either.
I really just want to know what it is becasue I just bought this truck and that's what it's doing. And I've had the Electronic Throttle Control light come on twice now. I have another thread posted about that and we have suspicion of what it may be.
