If you unplug one of the 4 sets of wires to the valve covers, one at a time , see if it sets a CEL... also...
if you do this ,note the diff in the way it runs,if there are probs with an injector or two, one or more of the plugs unpluged, won't make much diff in the way it runs....
Yep thats who I thought. I have not heard any bad things from them. I think my dad has bought a few hard to find PCM's from them. Give them a call but I would ohm check the harness first.
Just scanned three times and nothing each time. I'm pretty sure that the scanner works properly but you never know. I can check the ohms on the harness tomorrow. Shouldn't I get like 3.5 ohms? If I remember correctly.
This is from Patrick Feeley On each valve cover connection there are five pins. The outermost pins (pins 1 & 5) are for the glowplugs. They should not have continuity with each other or the center three. The center three are for two of the injectors in each bank. The ohm reading between each outermost injector(pins 2 & 4) and the center pin (pin 3) should be about 2 ohms (if I remember correctly <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype class=inlineimg id=_x0000_t75 title='\\\"Stick' stroked='\\\"f\\\"' filled='\\\"f\\\"' path='\\\"m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe\\\"' alt='\\\"\\\"' src="http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" o<img Tongue\? Out></v:shapetype>referrelative<V</V Pins 2 & 4 should also not have continuity with each other. The undervalvecover harnesses are just replaced as a "unit" if they are bad (there are 4 of these harnesses per truck, 2 per side). Does that help? Cheers!
When you ohm it out do it between the outermost and the center pin (ground) and then do the outermost and the block or a good ground to eliminate wiring probs.
Test everything right from the IDM connector.
Its unknown what the modded IDM could of done when it burned.
The IDM has high (injectors) and low (PCM) voltage outputs.
Could not find the ohm on inj coil.
Maybe test the new IDM in a working truck. Could save you some time.
Do not put the working IDM in your truck as a test.
It will ruleout the IDM
