I recently purchased a 1962 F100 with a 292 V8. How is the firing order on the distributor laid out? Is #1 wire toward the front of the truck and left (clockwise) of the front clip? The rotation is CCW, so #5 would be to the right when you are facing the firewall?
Thanks,
Thanks Dennis, I will check the position to see when #1 is in the compression stroke and go from there. I would expect #1 to be toward the front of the motor and to the left of the distributor clip, is this correct if nothing was changed? The three wires from the wiring harness to the coil have also been disconnected. Any information on these?

Thanks, it will be this weekend before I get to work on it. I could not get the picture inserted into the last reply. I did not see a 1 on the cap.

Checked the compression and it matched up to the 10:00 position on the distributor looking from the grill. I have a three wire harness that was disconnected. One wire is Yellow with a purple or voilet stripe and has a 1/4" quick connect, the middle wire is Red with a white or gray stripe and a distributor post connection, the third wire is Red with a green stripe and has had the end cut. It looks like the two end wires have 12 Volts with the ignition on (Yellow & Red-green). Any information on where these wires go would be appreciated.
Thanks,
