whats the temp outside and oil preassure,
both are monitred by the PCM when its below 32 deg. and will close even while driving at low rpms untill oil preassure rises and engine heat builds, then it will disengauge, its a ford preset to help it warm up.
its about -5 outside, but i never noticed it doing this before...
So if it works properly when warmed up, i should let it be?
man where do you live -5 your ebpv is controlled buy your oil temp , u could have a blockage in the tube ,but if after the engine warms up and its fine than i think its normal!
To all that want to know, mine was doing the samething, found a hole in the ebpv tube from the manifold to the sensor. replaced tube, all ok
Check this out first. Its normal for it to come on while driving when its that cold out. The oil has to warm up a good amount before it will stop operating. It opens when you rev that high because the EBPS senses a higher back pressure and opens the valve so you dont build up too much pressure and float an exhaust valve.
Like bigtorque said, it'll operate until one of the temps is above the specs. For the outside temp, its 32 and for the oil temp its 131. It takes a while to get all that oil warmed up that much, but as it gets warmer, the amount the valve closes will be less, so less lag.
