I have a 2001 F150 XLT, 67,000 Miles. When i back up the drivers side rear wheel locks up, it doesn't do it all the time. There is no pattern, i can back up 10' before it happens sometimes. A horrible grinding/cruntching noise stops the truck. I have had it looked at and nothing was found. What can i look at next?
just aabout has to be the brakes? i would take both sides off and look again. how about putting axle on jacks, take wheels and tires off. start truck and put in reverse and watch. then take brake drums, or disc off and look.... could it be emergency brake? do you have disc rears?
4 wheel disc brakes, i had pads done 10 days ago, i thought mabe they were the wrong ones or a bad set so today i had new ones put on and the same thing happens. Very frustrating, you never know when it is gonna happen. I thought about the E-Brake, but whats there to check on that? I works fine
Mine did exactly the same thing, it was the E brake. The E brake is seperate from the disc caliper. It is a little drum assemble inside the disc (called drum-in-hat).
