I recently replaced the rear drum brakes. New shoes, drums and all new springs. Also replaced the wheel cylinder on both rear brakes. I bled all the lines and took it for a spin. After using the brake the first time the ABS light comes on. And without barley touching the pedal the right rear wheel locks up. I've adjusted the adjustment screws. No luck....I did disconnect the parking brake cables because the cable snapped. I did not replace the parking brake cable when I put the brakes back together. Could not having the cables hooked up be causing the right rear to lock up during braking??
Little known fact. There is a leading shoe and a trailing shoe and the leader has slightly less friction material on it. So I'd wager you have both leading shoes on 1 side and both trailing shoes on the other and that is the one that is locking up. You have to pull all the shoes off again and and compare closely so that you end up with 2 correct pairs and then reinstall them.

That was my first thought. They don't make them light and dark anymore.

Thanks I'll give it a try. This was the first time changing drum brakes.
