As I have posted in other treads, my son is looking for some new tires for his truck. I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my truck and have been very happy with them. We both want something with a more aggressive look to the tread next time though. He was leaning towards the TrXus STS All Terrain Super Swamper Tires. But after some posters stated their comments and views after having them, he has decided to look into something else. What are some of your comments on the Mud Grapplers. Rain? Mud? Sand? Highway? Tread life? Noise? Before spending alot of money and being not happy with the purchase, we would like to hear from you!
good tire all around from my experience... little expensive
have you thought about the new BFG MT KM2s? pretty good looking and I hear they should wear like the old MTs...
A buddy of mine had them on his Jeep he said he could never get them balanced right. And also it cause a violent shake in the front end when he got up past 40mph. He put his 37" boggers back on and didn't have any problems with shaking after that. But he could of just got a bad set. But they do look cool.
freind had some 33''s and we went for a ride, sounds like a turbo prop plane going down the road.. doing like 30mph.. but he said they were great off the road..
agree though, they do look really cool. would love to have the money for a set just to throw on every ones in a while. .
the Toyo M/T is a nice looking tire. is what im going for next anyways..
I've had bad experences with the BFG. One car I had kept poping a cord in the treads, and my truck came with BFG from the factory. After about 20,000 miles the side walls were splitting. Dealer said it was jus cosmetic but it didn't look good to me. Have just loved my Terra Grapplers though. Just wanted something meaner looking.
too loud! when the tread wears down... Toyo Open Country M/T!! or the mickey topmson baja mtz, thats what I have now, nice tires but very expensive for my size atleast, going to the toyos this winter
Mud Grapplers I hear wear incredibly fast on the road, the one guy I knew that had a pair killed them bald in under 30,000 miles. Look at the tread on them, you can tell they're gonna be loud with all the void space and those massive lugs. Unless he's gonna spend a lot of time offroad he's probably better off spending the money on something else. Ditto the Terras though, they're some nice tires.
I just bought ProComp Extreme AT's and like them alot. Plus they have a 40k warranty- don't know if I'll need to worry about that, they'll probably dryrot before they wear out. The tire shop I deal with put a pack of some stuff in each tire, I can't remember what its called, that keeps them balanced w/o weights. Towed an atv trailer round trip-@400 mi- twice in the last 5 wks and she rides like a dream. No vibrations up to 75 mph that I've felt so far.
