Question Nitto Tires???

After crawling around under my truck the last few days, I noticed it is time for new tires. I plan on putting 315/75/16's under it. I think they will clear with my 2 1/2" leveling kit. I have looked at the Nitto Terra Grappler. They look good and are less expensive than the BFG's I have always used. Anyone have any comments about them? The guy at the tire store recommends them over BFG's. He said the BFG's in that size are hard to get as they are in the process of changing tread design on the A/T's.

Nitto's are a good tire but they do not last long. Look at the goodyear wranglers. Silent sheilds. Nice tire wear well and look tough.

i have about 2000 miles on my TerrraGrapplers, and love them. of course i have the 33's (305/70/R16), not the 35'' like you say. they are VERY quiet, only get a small amount of tire rumble above 75 mph. they are great in the snow and mud. i can throw about an 80' roost when locked in 2nd gear about 3000 rpm.

here are some pictures:

shooting a nice roost:

and one before the new tires, these are stock:

they just look out of place on a 22' long truck.

Great looking Truck! Do you have plenty of tire clearance with the 305's?

Ihave almost 20k on my Grapplers and they are wearing fine, although I do need to rotate them SOON. I can see getting at least 50k before replacing them.

How's the noise from the Nittos after 15-20k? I've run Bridgestone Dueler Revos and the wet traction is awesome, but the road noise after about 15k is pretty annoying.

I've got the Revo's too, and have been pretty happy with them. With the exception of they have worn out pretty quickly. I've only go about 20K-30K on them and they are already in need of replacement. Hearing the good things about the Grapplers, I'm considering them too. I'd also like to know about the road noise, as most of my trucks miles come on the highway.

Do you have these tires. They have a 50,000 mile tread wear rating, which is pretty darn good for trucks as big and heavy as ours. I'd like to know more about personal experiences with the Goodyears as well as the Nitto's.

Again we are bordering on a subjective issue but my experiences with Goodyear wranglers are bad!! Out of four tires you might get one to roll straight across a concrete floor. These tires are notorious for be out-of-round. I have had four sets a BFG's (after age they get noisy too) on two vehicles and they are the best I have owned out of Goodyears, Bridgestones, Pirellis and Mickey Thompsons, Firestone ATX (No longer available) and Generals. Tried to explain this to a buddy who was just looking to replace factory Steeltex tires and he ordered a set of Wranglers in stock size. Tires came in and he asked the service shop to roll them across the floor and the owner of the shop even said, "That tire looks like a football rolling across there"! Needless to say he now has stock size BFG KO's and has had them for about 40,000. My last set of KO's netted me 65,000 miles and actually needed to be replaced from dry rot before they ever made it to the treadwear indicators. I can only comment on these tires that I have owned and not trying to bash every tire out there. As far as getting BFG's, yes, they are hard to find and you will get the usual "Don't have any they are on National backorder" comment but they still do make them and are available with a little research. B.F. Goodrich was bought out about 1 year ago but this tire will continue to be made just on a limited production run per year. Don't mean to hi-jack the thread but have read and heard good things about the Nitto's.

I don't think it's hijacking the thread. You're giving input. I don't see that as changing topics.

I believe the more ideas and opinions a thread receives, the more informed choices we can make. The only reason I had looked away from BFG's is the info received at the tire store. The guy who I have bought my last 3 sets of BFG's told me that BFG was in the process of change the tread design on the A/T T/A KO's. He said that he thought that he could get me a set if I were willing to wait. He thinking is that I cut a tire and need a replacement, the tread will not match. As far and the other brands mentioned here I will check on them, I do welcome all opinions.
