Here are the Quotes from blackstone, same oil same truck first quote is 1000 miles, second quote is 2000 miles. I used Hot Shot secrets as an oil additive, works like a charm as you can see they say the oil is real dirty for a 1000 miles, well, that is cause the HSS is doing its job, it has definitely helped, and blackstone speaks for the bypass filter.
"BRYAN: Thanks for the note about the additive that you used. We found fuel at 2.0% so we aren't sure how well your additive is working though. This level of fuel dilution isn't a problem, though it is more than we like to see. We don't get too worried about fuel until it reads over 2.0%. Wear generally looked good but copper and lead (bearings) was high for an oil run just 1,000 miles. Universal averages are based on an oil run of ~5,200 miles. We suggest running this oil another 2,000 miles then check back with another sample. Hopefully fuel doesn't increase."
"BRYAN: Insolubles (oil oxidation due to heat, use and blow-by) were low at 0.2%, which shows excellent oil filtration and that your by-pass filter is working well. We're glad that you haven't changed this oil because it can easily be run longer. Universal averages for the 7.3L are based on an oil run of ~5,300 miles. We suggest running this oil another 3,000 miles and resampling for another look. Wear was generally low and other than a minor amount of fuel no harmful contaminants were found. Fuel at 1.0% isn't a problem. All in all, a good report at 119,500 miles."
Pretty significant difference in reports, I am trying to figure how to post the hole thing, but generally there was little to no increase in wear metals and insoluables, a decrease in fuel (fuel in the oil is from short operating times, I rarely get up to temp, only 4 miles to work) I would now highly recommend a frantz filter without hesitation. Any questions feel free to PM me.

Brain you can post the report in Webshots by using the snapshot icon in Adobe. its the camera pic next to the zoom button. Then paste i paste it into Microsoft Digital Picture. then save as JPEG. You might also be able to do that in MS Paint as well. here is an example of mine that are posted. Notice I cut off the personal info but left the vehicle info
Here are the oil sample documents from blackstone. Note that the second 1000 miles the increase was no more than 0.1 or 10% of the first thousand miles, and there was a decrease in Tin, if anybody has any questions please feel free to ask
---standby I will make them bigger, in a minute---

Brian, I am familuar with the Frantz by pass filters of yesteryear (50's) that utilized a roll of toilet paper. Is this Frantz filter that you are using use a toilet paper roll as well?

How do you guys do those samples? What do you send it in? What does it cost? They seem very informative and I would like to do a couple on mine. Thanks
Blackstone labs is a sponsor, click on their link, and request an oil sample kit. I request 3, then when you get an oil sample send it in with a check for 22.50 and the email, and snail mail the results back to you. That is the only way to safely extend oil change intervals, notice that it tells you the oil saturation level on soot, fuel contamination and if you have injector o ring issues it can also tell you if the oil you are using is doing its job.
