What is the worst that can happen from me running the wrong code emc in my 96 PSD? Is it just going to run rough or it it going to do some kind of major damage?
Are you talking about a chip code? Or the whole PCM.
As long as the pcm or chip is in the same DPC Family its not a problem.
Some DPC families you can upgrade to. Have to watchout for maual/auto trans and split/singles.
Im talking about a whole nother pcm. The truck came with code AUG4. I now have resting on the fenderwell pcm code MLE1. The latter of the 2 came out of a 96 F350 PSD with a 5 speed stick just like mine. Im afraid I dont know what your talking about as far as "chips" are concerned. Do these trucks have personality chips like some vehicles? If so where are they located in the pcm and do I need to swap them with each other.
I honestly couldnt tell ya. Its been a little while since ive had the valve covers off. I know the PO let a lot of mant' issues slide and the truck fell into disrepair so Im assuming that the truck has the orignal injectors whatever they may be. I thought this may be a cali truck but was never sure.
Your truck is a Cali. I know for shure as of 97 cali's were splitshot.
Iam unclear where in 96 was the change (ser#). Does your fuel pump have a damper on it?
The MLE1 is singleshot
The fuel damper is a round disk with the fuel lines comming off of it going to the heads. Its bolted to the fuel pump with the big banjo bolt.
The ALF4= DPC-203, 96, manual,F250/350,--49s/alt/canada
The ALE and MLE will swap.
You should be able to use the PCM's if they are reflashed being that they are all DPC-203. Call DP-Tuner speak with Jody.
