I've owned 6, (still have 3) only one had it, all of them had the orig, washer bottle, one had a hole melted thru it, suprise suprise.

Just what I'd say masterbeavis. I've been junk yarding for over 30 years and It's the first I've seen. Obviously they had a part #. I wonder why they were not put on all of them.

Could have been done on a recall, and not many folks bothered with it ?? Just my .02 worth.

I thought about this and seem to recall this was a Ford "Campaign" fix. When Ford encountered a problem back then (this was before mandatory recalls), they would send out a campaign letter to dealers...in this case...washer bottles that were melting from engine heat. It was up to the dealer to notify their customers (how times have changed!), and install the heat shield, which was a no cost item.
