That's actually $103.1 million.

You forgot the $51.1 million just to negotiate with the guy......but hey, who's counting.

Yeah! Dice K has been somewhat of a disappointment in the last half of the season especially.

Hopefully he will improve next year if not his next start.

He has a track record of being there in the big games, but I think he is still on vaction this year..

I think people are beginning to understand, Dice-K among them, that pitching in Japan is not the same as pitching in the big leagues in the US.

hmmmmmmmm 13 or 14 wins, isnt good enough for a young talented pitcher thats going to get alot better and have a great career in the majors.

if you think thats money not well spent, then what do you think of the clemens and what he earned for his 5 era and 6 wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13 or 14 wins wouldn't be bad for young talented pitcher. But $104 million for 13 or 14 wins is way outta line. By those standards *I* should worth at least $250K! Where's *my* check?

Clemens price was ridiculous, I'd be surprised to see that happen again...

Well, here in Billings we have the Reds' AAA team The Mustangs. So if I were really a true fan, I'd be rooting for the Cincinatti Reds..........but I just can't bring myself to do that. Go Tribe!!

I think for all that Dice K went through this season...new team...new league...new country...new culture...new baseball, to name a few, he had a great season. Don't forget...he had a stretch of about six games where the Saawx only scored 10 or so runs for him. With the Saawx normal offensive output...he easilly could have won 19/20. Hopefully he will be like Becket this year...make the necessary adjustments and come back next year and be CY like...just like Beckett!!!

As far as Clemens goes...remember the last 4 years he was with the Saawx...they paid him 20+ million...he was barely a 500 pitcher...as many losses as wins. He was fat...with a capital f...and out of shape. In my humble opinion...he literally stole that money from the Saawx and their fans. The next year...he signs with the Blue Jays...reports in great shape and wins the CY...go figure!!!

Now...JD Drew...never mind...he gets my blood boiling!!!

Nothing wrong with AAA ball...live about 2 1/2 hours from Pawtucket...the Saawx AAA team...been to see them a few times...lot less expensive than Boston. Some of the World Series tix...IF they can somehow pull off a small miracle...are going for up to $25,000 on stubhub!!!!

GO SAWX!!!

I don't think Dice-K had that bad a year dealing with all the things you mention and more... he's learning! But to pay that much for someone to learn is ridiculous. If they lose someone like Lowell because the spent too much on Dice-K, now that would be a real shame...

Yes, we got the Spinners and the Fisher Cats right handy to us - either one is a great way to spend a summer evening, take half a dozen and eat and drink for less than a single sox ticket. Can't beat it...

They won't lose Lowell because of the money they paid/posted for Dice K...they might lose him for the same reason they lost Johnny Damon...remember him... "Looks Like Jesus...plays like Judas...throws like Mary" . They may lose him because somebody...Yankees maybe...are willing to pay top dollar and give him a crazy number of years. I'd hate to lose him...but...you have to draw the line somewhere...remember...this year is by a pretty fair margin...a career year for him...baseball players don't generally improve with age after a certain point.
