I hope you are kidding! If the Sox lose any one of those players the team is worse off. If they lose all three they lose not only great talent and potential but they lose three very well liked (by the fans) players. Lester has shown to be a fighter - he got cancer, beat it and won game four all in a year. Bucholz threw a no-hitter in his second start and Ellsbury runs like lightning. People go to games to see that kind of excitement.
Santana? No thanks.
Maybe if they throw in Gagme.....
You know...I think the discussions have some merit...if part of the deal is a new contract for Santana...say add three years to the one he has left. Don't forget...he's a legitimate number 1...two time Cy winner. Lester, Bucholz, Ellsbury are basically unproven prospects...granted with a big upside. That said...would I give up all three...no...maybe two of them with some other prospect. Food for thought...Hot Stove League...just about my favorite time of the year...next to Rolling Rallys!!!
GAGME?!?!
On another note...Royce Clayton has been designated for assignment... ... ...what ever will we do without him???
santana is one sick pitcher.......but we won the world series with young role players playing like tried and true veterans......keep it as is, and lets get our free agents signed.
laughing my **** off literally, i played in 1 thanksgiving football game there, i believe in 93, cant remember
what class are you big ken???i know a ton of people from orange
Yup...graduated Mahar Regional...class of way too long ago!!! Played football...in three years on the varsity we lost 5 games...two to Athol... ...got sweet revenge my senior year...woke up Thanksgiving morning and shoveled 12" of partly cloudy...game was postponed to Saturday...we won 42-20...I think...memory is fuzzy...long time ago... ... assuming you were a senior in '93...I've got class mates with children who are older than you!!! You should be able to figure it out from those clues!!!

The question is...does Santana make your team a better team...absolutely...but at what cost??? I love the young players...but the bar has been set very high...and...the pressure will be unreal to win again...we EXPECT it now. Anything but winning THE last game of the season is unacceptable. The trick is to keep a steady flow of youngsters coming through the system so you can win year after year...whether it is with homegrown talent or with talent that homegrown talent has allowed you to acquire. Remember some of the past trades that helped the Saawx get into the playoffs...how about Mike Boddicker...I believe a guy by the name of Schilling went in that deal...or Larry Anderson...traded for a light hitting third baseman by the name of Jeff Bagwell. Long term they may not have been the best deals the Saawx ever made...short term they helped get the team into the playoffs. Make those deals again?? Absolutely!!! Remember...hindsight is generally clearer than forsight!!!
