DAMMIT this is frustrating!

Well, I thought I finally had a lead on a diesel...'97 F250 supercab at a local car lot (was a trade in).

Tried to look at it previously and they told me it had to go through the shop and to call back this week.

So I just called today and they told me the truck had a problem with the transmission so they just sent it to the auto auction.

*sigh*

Another one bites the dust. I might find a truck someday.

Try AutoTrader. That's what I used when I got my Excursion abck in the spring. Worked out a deal with the dealer who was about 200 miles away where he delivered the vehicle to me for inspection and purchase... only catch was that if I didn't want it, I would have needed to reimburse them for a $35 "delivery fee", which was less than the fuel it would have cost me to go there myself.

Autotrader is what I've been using the most...I can't find much even within 100 miles, and anything further away than that is just too hard to get to...

edit: I just searched within 200 miles and found a nice truck in Richmond VA...however, although Richmond is 166 miles from here "as the crow flies," it's 300 miles and a 5 hour trip to get there. Being that I would essentially have to be driven there, I just can't do that. ugh.

I have an uncle that is a used car dealer. He goes to auctions ever week to find good deals. I'm sure if you asked a repretable dealer that your looking for a 97' PSD I'm sure they could locate one for you without much hassele. Just an idea.

ghunt,
Try craigslist.com for the one closest to your location. Search cars @ trucks and at the top type in DIESEL. It will narrow it down to any ad that has diesel in it. There are a ton here in minneapolis. If you find one out here you like let me know and I will check it out for you to see if its even worth your trip here to check it out in person. Otherwise good luck on your search.

Keep at it and dont give up!! I was ready to throw in the towel and was on my way to look at a 2000 Excursion with a V10. I would have bought it and settled for something I didn't want. I saw one (unadvertised) at a lot while I was on the way to see the V10. I stopped and found my dream Excursion (03 7.3 4X4) and it had an Edge Juice with attitude, a Bully Dog Air Intake, and a Bully Dog 4 to 5 Inch Exhaust on it. I had been searching Auto Trader, Ebay, etc. for 3 months, but God had me waiting, and I was blessed to find what I wanted the whole time.

You will find it and whatever you do, DON'T settle for something!! Get what you want to start with!!

Ah there's nothing on craigslist either. I live in a bad area for craigslist.

I don't plan to settle because I know what I want...a diesel with a stick.

I had hoped to find something before October because my Thunderbird is getting put away for the winter and my winter beater is a POS tempo. However, I found some guy that wants to trade me a Ranger for the tempo, so I think I'll go that route and at least I'll have a 4WD for the time being while I find "my" truck.

I know it's a hike for you but Woodyard auto south of DC is a good guy to deal with. He was recommended to me and treated me well. He brings trucks up from Texas.
